Past to Present
I've been sculpting as far back as I can remember. I still have some of the pieces I did when I was 6, and for being sculpted in oil based modeling clay, they have survived pretty well. race car
An art class in Middle School is when I really started to express myself. When we did fired clay pieces, everyone else did one or two pieces, I did 20. I had this fascination with whistles then. So most of them are a whistle in some odd form. other pieces
The next big leap in learning came in college. I took just about every art course I could. Glass blowing was one of my favorite new mediums to try, but the one I spent the most time on was Bronze casting. glass
A class that had a big effect on me in college was Life Sculpture taught by Trina Dixon. I learned more about sculpting people in just twp classes then I had learned in years of classes with others.
My son had a "poetry in a jar" project for school. He was supposed to put items in a jar that depicted part of the poem. My son picked Lewis Carroll's Jaberwocky. After the project was over, I made a base for it. lorraine
As of late, I've been working on a figurative piece at home. Work (see below) and some doubt about the pose has kept me from progressing on it lately.
Work... Atleast I get to do something I rather enjoy doing. Some how, the company I work for got into making parts for hindu temples. Its expanded from simple tiles, to a full 20 foot dome.
